I knitted the little stockings and stuck them onto a scalloped oval cut from a Spellbinders die and embossed with the Cuttlebug snowflakes folder. The holly paper came with a magazine last year.
I sewed a star shape on this one with glittery thread, and tied the same thread round the card,
and on this one I stitched a button and added some organza ribbon.
Here's how I made the stockings:
With 3mm needles and double knitting wool cast on 10 sts and work 6 rows in garter stitch (every row knit).
Next row - cast off 1 st at beginning of row.
Next row - knit together last 2 sts at end of row.
Next row - cast off 1 st at beginning of row.
Next row - knit together last 2 sts at end of row.
You now have 6 sts.
Knit 11 rows in garter stitch, then knit 6 rows with 1 strand of white double knitting wool and 1 strand of glittery yarn. Cast off.
Finish off by sewing a button in the centre or embroider a star in glittery yarn.
